COVID-19 Testing

Subject: COVID-19 Testing

Good Afternoon,

Please pass the information below to your instructors and apprentices who have been granted COVID-19 vaccination exemptions (or have applied for exemptions).  Again, they will  need to test regularly (interval depends on type of test taken) and immediately upload their test results to their Lumisight UH accounts. We are counting on your assistance in monitoring these individuals to ensure that they are faithfully complying with this testing requirement.

Those with exemptions will need to search for free testing sites after the arrangement with Clinical Labs ends. Listed below is a list of testing sites as of last week. Some are free and others are not.

Thank you.

James

Good Morning Everyone,

Just wanted to share that the UH COVID webpage says that Clinical Labs will provide free testing through the end of January 2022 for those of you who have employees and students who were granted vaccination exemptions:  https://www.hawaii.edu/covid19/

Not sure what will happen after January but I'll let you all know if I hear that the free testing will continue beyond that time.

Thanks,

Monique

STAR Instructor Support App - Reminder

Subject: STAR Instructor Support App - Reminder

Good Afternoon,

This App is available to all instructors and is a convenient way to check on the COVID-19 compliance status for all students on their rosters. Instructors must sign in with their UH Usernames and select Spring 2022 Apprenticeship from the drop down menu of available semesters on the top right of the screen. The default semester is usually the wrong semester for our classes. If an apprentice does not have a green check mark next to his or her name, instructors must do a Lumisight UH phone check. The STAR App is not refreshed constantly so it may simply be that the apprentice just failed to complete the daily symptom check on time. If this is the case, "you are clear to come to campus"  should be indicated on their Lumisight phone App.

Please send this out to your instructors as a reminder.

Thank you.

Aloha UH faculty,

To support efforts related to UH’s COVID-19 policy on Mandatory Vaccination for Students, STAR has created the Instructor Support App. The app is designed to help faculty teaching this semester to quickly understand where their classes stand with compliance to the UH COVID-19 Policy, enabling them to take action where it is needed.

Hon CC Changes to COVID Restrictions

Subject: Hon CC Changes to COVID Restrictions

From: Hon CC Office of the Chancellor <announce@hawaii.edu>

To: announce@hawaii.edu

Aloha Hon CC Students, Faculty and Staff:

Yesterday President Lassner announced changes to COVID-10 related restrictions in physical distancing that would be lifted, based on new State and County regulations.

We are excited to welcome more students back in person on our campus.  As you know, our offices have remained physically and virtually open throughout the restricted time to give our prospective and current students access to as many services as possible, and we are thankful for the tremendous work done by our frontline staff and faculty.  However, as we transition to lifting restrictions and as more students return to the campus, we want to ensure that the safety of everyone in our community remains a priority.

Per my earlier announcement, at Hon CC, we will adhere to 3-foot distancing in our classrooms, although there may be exceptions granted depending on the size and type of class. All individuals must continue to wear masks indoors.  Those who are outdoors are not required to wear a mask, but we encourage it when in close proximity to others. The use of the LumiSight UH app to track vaccination status and the daily health check will remain as well.  If any of you are not feeling well, please remain at home.

Together with the other UH campuses we will be monitoring the emerging Omicron variant and its impact on our community.  We remain hopeful that we can provide more in-person activities and events in the near future, but we must all remain vigilant, making the health and safety of ourselves and others a priority, to make that happen!  Thank you for all of your resilience and hard work during a challenging time.

Mahalo,

Karen Lee

COVID-19 Vaccination Required of ALL Employees in 2022

Subject: COVID-19 vaccination required of ALL employees in 2022

Date: Mon, 11 Oct 2021 09:28:58 -1000

From: Office of Human Resources <announce@hawaii.edu>

To: announce@hawaii.edu

Aloha UH employees,

Effective January 3, all UH employees, including those who are teleworking, will be required to be fully vaccinated for the COVID-19 virus OR have an approved medical or religious exemption for the COVID-19 vaccine.

The requirement is outlined in the UH COVID-19 Vaccination Policy posted today, Monday, October 11. This policy supersedes the COVID-19 Vaccination and Testing Policy effective August 23, 2021 through January 2, 2022. Employees who do not comply will be subject to progressive discipline, up to and including discharge. A similar policy was established for students, requiring vaccination to enter a UH site.

The policy is based on the latest federal and state guidance and made in consultation with the UH President COVID-19 Team and the UH Health and Well-Being working group, made up of UH medical and public health experts. The three unions representing UH employees were also consulted.

As the policy states, “the COVID-19 vaccines currently available in the United States are highly effective at preventing COVID-19, as well as at preventing serious illness even in those who do contract COVID-19. A fully vaccinated campus community enables the best opportunity for a healthy return to high-quality face-to-face teaching, learning and research.”

Employees who are partially vaccinated as of January 3, 2022, will be required to provide a regular negative test result until two weeks after their final shot. Employees who receive an approved medical or religious exemption from COVID-19 vaccination will be required to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test weekly for a PCR test or every three days for an Antigen test. Employees seeking medical or religious exemptions related to the COVID-19 Vaccination Policy should inquire with their HR office.

The OHR website has been updated with additional guidance related to the January 3 policy.

Disregard PTS Deferred Compensation Separation from Service Memo from UH

Greetings Campus,

This email applies to part-time lecturers and casual hires.

We were alerted that active PTS Deferred Compensation Retirement Plan participants may have received a Separation from Service Memo.  In follow-up with the local NBS contact, they were informed that this notice should have been sent only to inactive participants.  However, it was inadvertently sent to about 18,000 active participants statewide.  We do not know who in the UH system may have received this.  Please let anyone who inquires know to disregard the memo.  They apologize for the confusion this may have caused.

If an employee would like to speak to someone, please ask them to send an email to uh-tda-l@lists.hawaii.edu  and we will put them in touch with the NBS contact.

Thank you for your patience and understanding,

Monique

Subject: Re: COVID-19 Requirements - Are My Apprentices Compliant?

Hello,

I just confirmed this morning that the Lumisight daily check-ins are not factored into the green check marks on the rosters. Only apprentices' individual Lumisight accounts (as viewed on their phones, etc.) will reflect vaccination or testing information and daily check-in status.

Please call me if you have any questions.

Thank you.

James

Good Morning,

Please inform your instructors that they can now check on their apprentices' compliance status here:

https://www.star.hawaii.edu/instructorsupport

To log in , instructors will need to enter their UH Usernames and passwords and be verified via the multi-factor authentication (MFA) process (i.e., respond to a call, push, etc. as an additional security measure - needs to be set up prior to logging in).

Once logged in, instructors will be able to view their class roster(s) which includes apprentices' names, UH Usernames, email addresses and compliance status.

In the compliance status column - last column on the roster, a green check mark indicates that apprentice is compliant (i.e., has uploaded vaccination info to Lumisight UH or has submitted a current negative test result) and a dash or line indicates that apprentice's compliance status is no or unknown. Compliance information is updated daily.

Thank you and please call me if you have any questions.

COVID-19 Requirements - Are My Apprentices Compliant?

Good Morning,

It's been reported that some of your instructors cannot access  their rosters. The problem probably is that they didn't select the proper semester from the drop down menu. Please see the message below from our Dean of Student Services and pass it on to your instructors. The Apprenticeship semester must be selected.

Thank you and please let me know if other problems are encountered.

When the instructor logs in, it automatically defaults to Fall 2021.

If the instructor is teaching in a different semester (ex: Fall 2021 Apprenticeship), please have them select the correct semester from the dropdown (top right of screen).
