POOL OF ELIGIBLE
The JAC is accepting online applications for the Pool of Eligible in accordance with the Apprenticeship Program’s Standard and Selection Procedure. It is from this Pool of Eligible that candidates are offered apprentice opportunities to fulfill the manpower needs for our industry. Candidates are kept on this Pool of Eligible for two years from the date of their interview.
All applicants are directed to apply using our online system. PC or laptop is recommended, mobile optimization devices are limited. Follow the instructions on the application process. Only applicants who successfully complete their online applications and meet the minimum requirements, as stipulated in the Program Standards and Selection Procedure, will be invited for aptitude testing.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications for apprenticeship as listed below:
Be a minimum of 18 years of age. Must provide document to verify age requirement (such as a copy of applicant's birth certificate or State driver's license or State ID card, etc.).
Provide copy of high school diploma or GED, as well as all applicable transcripts and records to show evidence of successful completion of one full year of high school Algebra 1 or higher math or successfully complete the National Joint Apprenticeship & Training Committee (NJATC) Tech Math Course (https://www.skillsprep.org) or equivalent mathematics course recognized by the Joint Apprenticeship Committee (e.g. Waipahu Community School for Adults).

With the exception of individuals who qualify for Direct Interview or Direct Entry, prior to registration, all applicants being offered an apprenticeship opportunity shall complete a preparatory boot camp, with a maximum length of 80-hours, comprised of both classroom and hands-on evaluation as determined by the JAC. (Effective: September 16, 2019).
(Bootcamp is postponed for Maui, Kauai and Big Island until further notice.)
Must be a United States citizen in order to work on U.S. military bases.
Other requirements:
Pay an Application Fee of $33.00 (non-refundable) at time of application.
Must pass a substance abuse test prior to indenturing.
Must become a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local Union 1186 when you become an indentured apprentice.
Term of apprenticeship program shall be on the island that you are applying for.
The recruitment, selection, employment, and training of apprentices during their apprenticeship shall be without discrimination on the on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age (40 or older), physical handicap, marital status, or arrest and court record which does not have a substantial relationship to the functions and responsibilities of the prospective or continued employment, provided that a sponsor may refuse to refer for employment an individual to perform the work in question. Affirmative action shall be undertaken to provide equal opportunity in apprenticeship and the apprenticeship program shall be operated as required under Chapter 31, Title 12, Administrative Rules.
